#learntocode with Tereza, Head Coach Data Science

As Head Coach for our Data Science bootcamp, Tereza loves to face new challenges together with her students every day. She has also worked as a Data Engineer and Data Scientist for many years and is also very involved in various organizations on a voluntary basis in the field of data science and AI. For example, she founded the group PyLadies and, as an AI ambassador, is a regular speaker at global conferences. But read for yourself!

What did Tereza do before neue fische?

Our English speaking Data Science Head Coach Dr. Tereza Iofciu received her PhD in Computer Science in Information Retrieval from the L3S Research Institute in Hannover, Germany, in 2011. Before neue fische she worked for several years as a Data Engineer and Data Scientist at larger companies such as XING and Free Now (then mytaxi).

Why did Tereza come to neue fische?

Since she has always enjoyed mentoring people, learning new things and solving problems, she was also looking for something professionally where she could focus on these aspects. So starting as head coach at neue fische was just the right thing for her - there she particularly appreciates working with motivated people and facing new challenges every day.

And what does Tereza do in her free time?

But her interest in the field of Data Science does not stop alongside her work as a coach - she founded the group PyLadies, for which she organizes many meetings, at which our graduates have also been able to appear as speakers, and speaks as a Hamburg ambassador for “Women in AI” at relevant conferences worldwide. She is also a board member of the Python Software Association, a member of the PSF Diversity and Inclusion Working Group and a volunteer for Solve For Good.

In addition to volunteering, Tereza paints dinosaurs under the name tiyepyep in her free time, enjoys knitting and plays Dota2 and Don't Starve.
