Good to have you here! Get to know us and the other course participants. Together we'll take a look at the first steps that are required for getting started with your software project. Understanding the context and goals of a project, analysing your stakeholders or the identification of risks, resources and constraints mark some of the first activities.
We will look into analysing project requirements and deliverables and their documentation. To ensure that everyone is clearly aligned on the goals and objectives of the project we will create a project brief.

Building onto phase 1 we will continue in our project process: learn how to break a project down and how to set up a project space that is easy to access and understand for all stakeholders. We will discuss estimation techniques, what implications they have and why estimations are important. You will then learn different methods for prioritising.
In the next step, we will get more detailed: we will set up a project timeline and a project budget. The phase will be concluded with an introduction to data analytics and by looking at how we can define useful metrics for measuring success.

Now we’ll get down to business: you will learn about agile and waterfall methodologies and when to best use them. We will go deeper into Scrum, Kanban and agile principles and apply them to the work in the development team.
You will understand why this means regularly shipping an increment and how to continuously test, learn and improve.

In this phase, you’ll dive into the development process with a successful kickoff. Understand team roles and visualise complex components. We'll cover deployments, planning releases, and setting up efficient workflows in Jira. Measuring progress and providing regular status updates are key tasks for a project manager.
Additionally, enhance your skills in running workshops, moderating meetings, and developing presentations. Conflict handling, managing scope creep, and identifying anti-patterns are crucial – sometimes things don’t go as planned! We will discuss what can go wrong and how to overcome these obstacles.

The final lap is the hardest? We will look at what the project manager can do to ensure all deliverables are done and to get the project ready to be released. We will look at ways how to maintain high standards through testing and quality assurance.
You will learn how to coordinate a successful launch and ensure a smooth go-live.

After the project is before the project! You will learn what there is to do in the post-launch phase and how a project goes into a continuous development mode.
At the end of this phase you will ensure that your toolkit and personal project space template is all set so that you can take the next step in your career.
