For a coffee with... Christopher! We chatted with him about his experience at the Data Analytics Bootcamp. Christopher wanted to put his enthusiasm for statistics and data to more professional use, so the bootcamp was the ideal decision for him! In this testimonial he talks about his time at the bootcamp and how his final project on post-pandemic urban mobility patterns, combined his passions in IT and mobility. Why did you come to new fish?

I've had a passion for computers since childhood, though I never made it my professional focus until now. After my business studies and a few years in the profession, I felt a strong desire to reorient myself professionally in a direction that would allow me to use my IT skills and my enthusiasm for statistics and data more professionally. An acquaintance in the industry had himself had very positive experiences with graduates of the Web Development Bootcamp at neue fische, so I decided to attend the Data Analytics Bootcamp at neue fische to expand my data analysis skills. The detailed testimonials of the other studis also helped me in this decision process.

Would you share your biggest challenge of the bootcamp with us in this testimonial?

Time and scope management on the digital journeyman piece. There's always a lot more you'd like to shed light on or try out. Therefore, you always have to set strict deadlines for various field trips to keep on schedule until the presentation. It was also a challenge to fit the relevant content into the presentation time, which at some point seemed too short. Tip: Work as early as possible along the format of the presentation and gradually fill the previously defined parts with content. 

What did you like best about the bootcamp?

The high density of information, the collegiality among the students and coaches, and the excellent corporate partners. 

How was your start on the job?

It couldn't have gone any better. I was lucky enough to get in touch with my current employer during the networking event after the final presentation. The team I work for now has been super friendly and totally helpful. This has given me the best possible start in what is a new environment for me, where I am now actively working on client projects. 

What was your highlight moment in or after the bootcamp?

My highlight was having the finished final presentation as a file on my computer. After all the work that was required around it, bundled into one file. 

How was the cooperation with the other students?

In the perfect words of a fellow student, "Marvelous!"
Very collegial, very smart people, lots of new impressions and knowledge from a wide variety of disciplines in one "place." 

Which final project did you choose and why?

Our topic was "Urban Mobility Patterns post Covid-19." Here, we took a closer look at Hamburg in particular. We chose the topic because it is highly relevant in several economic and urban planning aspects and we have a passion for the topic of mobility. It was particularly nice to read an announcement by Mr. Tschentscher a few weeks ago regarding the future urban planning of Hamburg, in which our results and possible measures were confirmed to a large extent.
