Your application at neue fische: It’s that easy to make your next career step!
30th May 2023
Picture this: you're lost in your thoughts, running the same questions in your head over and over. Am I cut out for an IT bootcamp? Can I really pull it off? Do I have enough know-how? Am I too old for an IT career? Can I afford it? And the list goes on and on.
We've seen it time and time again, bootcamp applicants burdening themselves with unnecessary worries, fears, and doubts about starting fresh in the tech world and a new career.
That's why Amelie Rüther, our Admission & Student Services Manager at neue fische, is here to reveal what is truly important for your application.
Hey, Amelie! So, what's the question you get asked the most by applicants?
Why do I have to do a challenge in the form of a small assignment?
... and what's your response to that?
Well, the challenge is a great way for us to see how you work. We take our job and the responsibility that comes with it seriously. For many applicants, embarking on an IT journey is a major life change. We want to make sure everyone knows what they're signing up for. So, this small homework assignment helps us assess your fit for the program and puts your mind at ease too. Are you into the topic? Are you genuinely excited? How much do you already know, and what's still a mystery to you?
Speaking of prior knowledge: Can anyone, really anyone, apply?
Yes, absolutely! Everyone is welcome to apply. But, we cannot admit everyone.
The first step is filling out the application form. What comes next?
We get to know the applicants personally right away through a virtual chat. We take the time to listen and answer all questions. The goal is to get to know each other and build trust. At the same time, we assess which IT bootcamp suits best and what motivation lies behind the desire for a fresh career start. Guidance is crucial to us. Once you're part of the family, you're always part of the family. And you know what they say: "Look before you leap and make sure your heart is in it"
How do you select who is suitable for neue fische?
Applicants are accepted when they are motivated, have a clear understanding of what to expect, have sorted out the financing, and have completed the challenge. It's a mix of various factors. We also consider the personal life circumstances in which someone currently finds themselves. Nevertheless, it's crucial to make a choice in the end. That ensures the candidates' well-being. After all, everyone involved wants students to successfully complete the bootcamp!
Got any tips for getting ready for the challenge?
Dive right in! There are plenty of other newbies just like you, eager to lend a helping hand and make the experience a blast. Don't be afraid! This isn't some strict school or university setup. It's not about passing or failing. It's about taking the plunge and enjoying the journey.
Ah, the good old topic of financing... Obviously, a 12-week full-time bootcamp naturally comes with a cost. What financing options are available?
There are three options: The Bildungsgutschein, the self-payment option, and last but not least, the payment model where the employer pays.
The Bildungsgutschein is the most popular option. Who is eligible for it?
The main requirement is to be registered as unemployed. It is also advisable to get in touch with your personal case worker at the Agentur für Arbeit in advance and schedule appointments early. A motivation letter can also be convincing and might expedite the process. It's also a good idea to start thinking ahead and prepare possible job offers that may be suitable after the bootcamp. Of course, we provide support in these matters. So, the motto is: Approach it with charm.
The fear of succeeding in the bootcamp is one thing. The other is the fear of the IT career restart after graduation. What can graduates expect?
💥Once a fish, always a fish💥. We're here to support, provide tips, and connect our graduates with suitable companies and positions through our Talent Pool.
Fears and doubts can't simply be brushed aside. What's your advice?
Fear is part of the process. Instead of pushing it away, I recommend embracing it. Just prepare yourself for reaching a point of complete uncertainty. Because it will come, but it will also pass. Our coaches, fellow students, and the team at neue fische are here to help in that process. We've got your back!
Why is taking the plunge into the unknown waters of the neue fische worth it?
The real question is, what's currently not working that requires a change? What's missing? What's your heart longing for? It's all about making that bold leap into the unknown. That leap itself is the real game-changer. And that's something to be proud of... the rest will fall into place naturally.
